Lipedema Insights ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Lipedema Insights mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Because the App is designed to track health-related symptoms and treatments, we take your privacy especially seriously. Please read this policy carefully.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a limited set of information from the authentication provider — typically your name, email address, and a unique account identifier. We do not receive or store your Google or Apple password.
Health and wellness data you enter. The App allows you to record daily symptom scores (such as pain, heaviness, and energy levels), treatment entries (medications, supplements, therapies), and optional notes. This data is entered entirely by you; we do not collect it passively or from any device sensor.
Technical data. We may collect basic technical information needed to operate the App, such as device type, operating system version, and crash reports. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the App's core functionality — storing your entries, displaying your history, and generating personal trend insights.
- To authenticate your account so your data is accessible only to you.
- To improve the App's reliability and fix bugs using anonymized, aggregated technical data.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or health data with third parties for advertising, marketing, or data-brokering purposes.
3. How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your data is stored in a secure cloud database hosted by Supabase, which runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Access to your data is restricted by row-level security policies, meaning your records are accessible only through your authenticated account.
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Data Sharing
We may share limited data only in these circumstances:
- Service providers. We use Supabase for database hosting and authentication, and Apple and Google for sign-in services. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
- Aggregated research (future). If we ever make anonymized, de-identified, aggregate data available for clinical or research purposes, no such data will be traceable to any individual user, and we will update this policy accordingly before doing so.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Access and export. You can view all the data you have entered in the App at any time.
Deletion. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at [email protected]. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Correction. You can edit or delete individual entries directly within the App.
Colorado residents may have additional rights under the Colorado Privacy Act, including the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of personal data, and the right to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address below.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. The "Effective date" at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
